Common-Sense Hydroponics Setups: Scalability in Larger Systems
Some of the growers who got into hydroponic gardening over a decade ago are used to seeing a very conventional kind of hydroponics gardening grow system – this sort of model often looks simply like a box. A rectangular cabinet can be extremely handy way to grow several plants, but there are also additional designs for larger sets of plants that may be entirely new to many of those who are looking at expanding a hydroponic garden.
Modular and Expandable Setups
Many of the bigger and more scalable hydroponics systems rely on a kind of setup that allows growers to easily route water and nutrient mixes along a greater number of plant rows – one great example is a PVC plastic setup where each plant row is placed horizontally, with vertical irrigation allowing for better flows to plants in each of these individual rows. Other designs feature large shallow trays or small boxes that can be easily switched out to accommodate various stages of plant growth. Some of these kits even have robotic helpers that move the plants from one place to another.
Thinking About Expansion
When a grower who has had a lot of success with small numbers of plants looks at getting into a larger hydroponics project, part of what he or she should consider is how easy it will be to set up and maintain a larger grow system. That’s where looking at a lot of these new versatile designs can be extremely helpful.
