Extra Stuff: Prepping Your Hydroponics Project
For more than a few growers, quantity is a huge issue when it comes to ordering the kits and supporting gear needed for any size garden. Obviously, your hydroponics kit will be a single purchase (unless you're also ordering a separate environment for clones, or building some kind of super hydroponics labyrinth) but what about the items that are eventually used up? Nutrient solids, disposable pots or trays, additives, and related chemical ingredients are just some of the items that are big on the lists of most growers. There are also other longer term issues, such as buying a certain quantity of replacement bulbs for grow lights.
More Than What You Need
In nearly all kinds of projects, savvy buyers order a little, not a lot, extra. Trying to special order a single item later can get troublesome and expensive. Adding an extra unit up front can save a lot of time and money. That said, having copious amounts of extra products sitting in your storage bay is hardly ever a good idea (just ask a professional supply chain manager at a big company.)
Ordering a "buffer supply" for unanticipated situations is easier for some than it is for others. If you're the miserly type (or, if you prefer, frugal) try to think of this extra investment as a money saver over time.
Ask your hydroponic retailer about this and other strategies for promoting efficiency in your hydroponics garden.
