How to become smarter using Hydroponics

Posted

A hydroponics garden can do a lot of things, but can it make you smart? This is actually a really good question and something to think about when evaluating all of the benefits of pursuing one of these indoor or greenhouse projects, at home or in a commercial space.

Let’s think about the idea of what makes people “smart” – you have native intelligence or skill, and then you have the process of learning. Some kinds of tasks involve more learning than others. Lots of hobbies and simple home improvement projects are pretty straightforward and easy to do, and probably don’t challenge the average person a whole lot. By contrast, hydroponics gardening is by its nature relatively complex. Instead of just planting seeds in the soil, growers need to engineer the entire hydroponics environment right down to the nutrient mix, the water in the reservoir, and any artificial light that may be used to encourage plant growth.

With this in mind, it’s possible to point to a variety of areas where hydroponics gardening can make people smarter. Growing plants this way can really enhance an individual grower’s knowledge of biology and chemistry. It can also change the way that that person thinks about technology. Many of the newest kinds of hydroponics equipment have high-tech controls that will involve their own learning curves, where someone who’s experienced in using this kind of gear can become a lot more technically proficient or inclined.

So the short answer is that, yes, hydroponics can make somebody smarter, in terms of developing key areas of knowledge that fit with the demands of today’s high-tech economy and job market. That’s just one more reason to pursue this kind of small-scale gardening as a hobby or as a commercial idea that can lead to a lot of entrepreneurial success.
