Minor Adjustments in Hydroponics

When growers meet up to talk about what they encounter in the process of growing hydroponic vegetables or other plants, they often end up talking about many of the little adjustments that need to be made from time to time in order to make sure that plants have the right environment. Many of these involve various strategies for monitoring a reservoir, which is the basic common water source for hydroponic plants. Here are some of the things that growers often talk about when looking back on how they shepherded plants through to maturity.

Keeping an Eye on Clarity

One thing that growers often do is to set up the reservoir where it’s near sufficient light, so that it takes just a quick glance to see if excessive solids are clouding the water. This is one simple visual way to keep tabs on a hydroponic environment, although it doesn’t begin to cover some of the other issues that growers commonly deal with.

Checking Water Levels

It’s also possible to visually check water levels, but just adding a little water may not be enough to correct a situation where a hydroponics reservoir has somehow gone a bit dry. Some growers report that when adding water, it’s best to also check the pH and correct it if necessary. Since additional water can affect pH value, just topping off the reservoir may not be the right strategy. Tools like pH Down can help growers to make sure their plants have the right pH value while also checking temperature, humidity and other environment factors.
